Brian's Journal

This land is the heartland of religion. It is unforgiving of foolishness. From heat in the daytime to cold at night, rains in the summer and dryness in the winter. There are large thorns on every plant, and when you walk you must be careful of them. The land is also vast and there are large stretches of savannah and mountains and mesas in the distance. During the night when the sun goes down the sky fills with stars. There is a milky white band that is called "the spine of the world" that goes across the sky.
You understand when walking here how insignicant man is. How very dependent we are upon those things which we have no control over. We fool ourselves so often with our televisions and our internet and think that our world is contained within the walls of our house and our workplace. It is a very small world that we live in, and it is very easy to erect those walls and to keep God out.
