Update from Team Arandis/Rehoboth

Sometime Thursday night-
The team is quickly settling into their ministry here in Arandis. Yesterday afternoon the entire team assisted with a kid's club. We attended a short church service at 6 PM (read Namibian time). After the service we went back to where we are staying while in Arandis (to all you 05'ers...not it's not the Zebra Lodge) and enjoyed a great pasta dinner.
Today we broke up in to two teams early (6:45 AM) with Darin, Jackie, Brian and Amanda going to the secondary school to give a little speech during the 20 minute assembly they have each day. Both Brian and Amanda did a great job I'm told. I had headed straight for the Hope's Promise Ministry Center in hopes of setting up the internet access on my laptop (I've been using Brenda's while here so far) before 8 AM because at that time I and Amanda would be helping out until 12 PM with 10 pre-schoolers! Around 9 AM the rest of the team was meeting with some of the "Hope's Promise Mommies". After that was done, Jackie and Brian headed out to Swakopmond with Brenda from Hope's Promise to do some grocery shopping.
We were suppose to be helping out with a reading program at 3 PM that never materialized though I did get a story in with 3 children. Then it was off the sandlot next door to kick around a soccer ball. The grocery crew had returned and Brian showed up at the ministry center to try to even up the sides! Eventually there were about 20 kids out there with us. Jackie came by and attempted to show a few dance steps to the Electric Slide to some of the girls who were hanging around watching one young guy and one old guy getting their butt's kicked by some of the fastest kids I've even seen.
By Faith arrived early evening and Brian and Jackie had prepared a great dinner for all. It was great to see them arrive and arrive safely. The band will hopefully get a spritual recharge with their much anticipated concert tomorrow night. Shortly after dinner, we had an impromptu acoustical song set outside of Pastor Tresford's home. Tomorrow there will be a 7 AM show at the secondary school which means a pre-6AM start for them to set up.
Prayers continue to be felt and welcomed.
------------
Personal thought for the day: I never thought that as a father of two, I would be kicking a soccer ball around a sand lot filled with broken glass with 20 barefoot children, but that's how things are here. I just don't get it...
I kept my sneakers on.
