Darin's Journal (10/July/2006)

Greetings from Okahandja... again. This morning we sent the band off early for their long ride to Ondangwa to meet up with Nancy's team and a concert tonight. As I type this it is 4:30 in the afternoon here and I just received a text from Jesse telling me that they are arriving in the area now having made very good time.

We rolled out of Arandis too, a little later in the morning after many tearful goodbyes. My team was very quiet in the combee as we rode. We're always surprised how quickly we come to love our Namibian friends and how deeply they come to love us. It was particularly hard for Shari and I to say goodbye (really a 'see you later') to Pastor Tresford and his wife Fabiola.

Our brief stop-over in Okahandja this afternoon is giving my team a couple of hours to play with children in Vyf Rand with Mike's team. The children poured out of the neighborhood as we arrived. Don, Jackie and Shari are moving about the children looking to meet the kids the dancers met last year. We'll see if we connect.

Thanks for those of you who endured our Sunday morning connection attempt. What you didn't see that was quite amusing on our end was that we had 81 people stuffed in the HPOM ministry center, in a room 12 X 20. Our Namibian friends wondered if this is what Americans do for fun.

Please pray for my team tonight and in the coming days. Tonight we will be taking Joan and Dieter out for supper. The Morsbachs have faced some real trials lately and we are hoping to simply provide ears and hearts for them to lean on a bit tonight. Please pray that we can be an encouragement to them. Then after supper we drive to Rehoboth (driving this road at night can be dangerous for all the game that wanders on the road). We are to begin ministry there at 6AM tomorrow. I'd also appreciate prayer for changing team dynamics. In addition to adding a team member (We're thankful to have had Hannah join us a couple days ago!) we also are changing locations again, leaving familiar surroundings for a new setting. Then, one last thing, please pray that we add one more team member in Rehoboth. As many of you know we've been hoping for months to have a 15 year old Namibian girl named Maderyna join us. In quite a God sighting, we connected with Maderyna's sister Chandra in Arandis. As of this afternoon no one has heard from Maderyna. We continue to pray. Let's see what God will do!
