God is good....
Dave is hunting down food for the Braai on Sunday night!!!!Yesterday was a beautiful day… I ran some errands with Joan & Nan Parker as they are preparing for Northland’s team to arrive this morning. I just wanted to go so that I could see what it at the Agra which is a store that I have never been to here in Okahandja. It’s a pretty cool place with everything from food to camping gear. So, I checked out the price of tents… just in case we don’t receive our bags, that way the band won’t have to snuggle in the BoBo. And I plan on going into Windhoek to the even COOLER store called Cymot… they look like an EMS camping section on the top floor and on the bottom floor they have a wide variety of things including auto-spares (auto-parts, for us Americans). It’s a pretty sweet place and they prices and variety will be better. Any way as we were standing in line I asked Nan & Jen (another member of the Northland team), if they were familiar with Google Earth and how Arandis, Swakopmund and Walvis Bay had just become high-resolution. They were not… but Jen then asked me isn’t that where Brad Pitt & Anjolina just had their baby… oh no, here comes my soap box again… I said yes as I rolled my eyes and started to mention my thoughts on the rich getting richer, and the poor getting poorer and how I am starting to see the positive things in their stay and then how Brad said that Namibia was the best kept little secret and that is true, but it scares me a bit because it may help to increase poverty… and on… and on… (a few of you have heard this speech of mine). As I am rambling on I notice that the security guard is intently listening to me ramble on. When I finished, he looks at me and smiles and says “M’am, welcome to Namibia!!” I promptly went over and shook his hand and introduced myself to him and let him know that I lost my heart here a long time ago. Riccardo then proceeded to tell me that I am right about the rich get richer, and poor get poorer but I don’t have to worry because God has a plan and he wrote it a long time ago, and He has a plan for me and a plan for Namibia… and I just cracked the biggest smile shook his hand again and said that I agree 100%. Then we talked a bit about what we were doing here and he mentioned coming back to the store to visit because he couldn’t come visit us. I love Divine appointments like that…
Later that day was spent working on the task list, making reservations, setting up cell phones… and so on…. Then I had an appointment at the internet café doing some technological tests. That was lots of fun and Johan was pretty excited when he showed up. He started telling me a bit more about his business and things in Namibia. We then had an appointment with Mr Wucher, the Kombie guy… I had just been giving more specific instructions from Darin on what to do and what to ask for and the fact that Darin was willing to make me a slave to pay off any bills we may incur. So, when Nan picked me up I was roaring and ready to go… then we needed to wait for Dave, Jen & Helia who had just ventured to the store in search of some hair ties so that Helia could braid Jen’s hair. Nan proceeded to tell me that they had already picked up our Kombie. I had a sudden blue flash come across me as I think back to the conversation that I just had with Darin, the list of things that were on the list to talk with Mr Wucher about and realizing that I was unable to fulfill any of it. When I finally saw Dave (they were on African time and showed up 20 minutes later) I asked about the Kombie, what the price was and blah, blah, blah. Dave told me that he made friends with Mr Wucher and they went over the entire Kombie together and it was not the most expensive one that we were going to be picking up. So, Dave did well. I still need to talk to Mr Wucher on Satuday when we pick up the rest, but I was back in the green.
I have been texting with Darin all day… what a convenience to be able to keep in touch at the touch of a finger and it’s not as expensive as a phone call or needed the internet café to be open. See Cingular is better… :-)
I spoke with Sylvia today and she had told me that she was on her way through Okahandja and needed to stop at Dieter’s to see Nan. She was extremely happy to hear I was in town and did not realize I’d be here early. When she showed up I received a big Sylvie hug and it was sweet… she is another one of those favorite people I have on a “list”. “The Plan” is to pick up the BoBo on Saturday at her place in Rehoboth and then drop it off at the airport. check… another thing off the list…
Nan invited us to dinner at “their place”. We had a “typical Namibian meal” of hamburgers and french fries… Dave said “I can’t believe I am eating this in Namibia”. I was humored and was not too surprised. I thought it was nice of them to invite us over and gave us a moment to talk about what is going on with our team.
Later in the evening Dieter came over to “our place” (Dave’s, Clarence’s and mine… we will soon be evicted due to the Northland Team’s arrival in a little while) and we had coffee and Dieter was psyched that Dave had cookies and we talked about how Dieter has been in the past few months and how he was feeling things were going well and that he is really standing up for himself. I have been waiting for this moment… I love this guy… there are some real positive things that God is doing here. He has changed the name of the training Centre to Elim which is the second fountain that had sweet water where as the first had bitter water. I remember the story, but I do not remember the book… and my concordance is not very good… and I can not get on-line at this moment and Logos is on my other computer… so, the complete reference I do not have, but I think that is such a fitting name.... here's the reference: Exodus 15:22-27 We also talked about the parts of the list that I needed to speak with Dieter about. God has got it all under control and my list is almost complete… except for a few minor details that I have researched, but just need to make a move on.
Well, now onto Friday… the rest of the team is still sleeping (or up all night packing…. Jackie!!! and I woke up late again… 8:00am… I received a phone call at about 8:30am to let me know that our bags… all of our bags… have arrived and the are at the airport. PRAISE GOD!!! I called Dieter and he is still at the airport picking up the Northland team. If he had room he would grab them, but I talked to him later and he said that he did not. So, Klaus, the nice man at the airport is going to have them delivered to Elim… God is good, all the time and all the time, God is good. It’s 5:22am your way and Dave would like to go to the café with me to check some e-mail… I’ve been typing like a mad woman… so I think it’s time to stop for now. To the rest of the team… I will see you in 2 DAYS!!! To everyone else… I will see you in a couple of weeks!!
