Update from Team Arandis/Rehoboth

It seems I keep having to apologize for the infrequent updates from our team and I am not sure how many more we might get in before we leave for Etosha.

After a tearful departure from Arandis, we headed off the coast for a little reflective time up on the sand dunes and in the South Atlantic. Surprisingly, I found the water to be a slightly bit warmer than Hampton! From Skakopmund, we headed back towards Okahandja, stopping for an hour or so at Vyf Rand. Unfortunately, we were not able to reconnect with some of the children that the dancers connected with last year. We then spent a few minutes at Dieter's prior to going to dinner with them in Windhoek. After dinner, we headed down to Rehoboth.

We arrived in Rehoboth after 10 PM last night and quickly fell asleep. The days continue to be long, this morning was no exception. We were told we needed to be at HPOM by 6:45 AM. Our mission for the day was to go to Rehoboth High School and speak with the different classes. We split up into two groups and each group spoke with eight different classes; 8th graders to 12th graders. There was a wide range of questions fielded from the students as my team (Jackie, Amanda and Brian) broke off into smaller groups within each class. Tomorrow, part of our group will be heading off to another high school and the other part to a pre-school.

Everyone on the team continues to rise to the challenges that are placed before us. It continues to be heartbreaking to listen to the stories that these children and young adults tell. There IS much work here that needs to be done and as Germaine said in one of her posts..."prayers are always good".

Amanda wanted me to post this for her:

Hey All. I'm doing awesome. I might just stay here and do youth ministry here in Namibia. I've loved going into the high schools & I'm definately in my element. Sending my love to my mommy Lyssy, the Shaw girls & Sheyka!

To all family and friends of other team members, myself included, know that we are all doing well, loving every minute we have here as they begin to tick away. Thanks for the continued prayers and thoughts.
